What should I expect when I visit?

When you visit COV, expect a warm welcome from a host of new friends. It doesn't matter which of our three Sunday worship services you attend, you will be greeted with kind words and bright smiles.

10:30 A.M. Worship Service at Church of the Valley is an amazing worship experince for all ages. The service fetures both contemporary and traditional music, relevent messages, and great fellowship every week. We also offer an adult bible study at 9:15 A.M. and children's activity time. Children and youth join in the worship service every Sunday, and after 15 minutes in the larger service, children go to a interactive worship experience in the children's center.

We also offer worship services at the historic Little Brown Church on Sunday morning at 8:00 A.M. The service is informal, and the music varies from week to week as various guest musicians join us for worship. In addition to a short message, we pray together and share the Communion Meal with one another. The service lasts about 45 minutes and many people linger afterwards to visit and catch up. The Little Brown Church is located at Coldwater Canyon and Moorpark in Studio City.

The one thing they have in common, however, is that they enjoy celebrating their faith with one another. In both our services, we share the Communion Meal as part of worship.

Even though COV has a variety of worship opportunities on Sunday morning, the services share several things in common:

PRAYER
: We collect prayer request cards (called, "Care and Concerns Cards") from the congregation and read them before we offer our prayers to God. Because we place such a high value on prayer during our worship service, we invite those who are able to come forward to kneel as we commune with our Creator. Also during each of our services, we pray the Lord's Prayer ("debts" version).

COMMUNION MEAL (Lord's Supper)
: All people of faith are invited to participate in the Communion Meal at COV. At each service, we eat the bread individually as it is passed to us. We hold the cup, however, and drink it together as a group. To accommodate the widest possible number of people, we use grape juice instead of wine.

OFFERINGS
: Like all churches, we believe that supporting the ongoing ministries of the church is part of authentic worship. Unlike many churches, however, we do not pass a collection plate during our worship services at COV. Instead, "Offering Boxes" are located at each of the Sanctuary doors. We encourage our members and friends to place their gifts in one of these boxes prior to the service, during the greeting time, or at the conclusion of worship. Of course, all gifts are tax-deductible.
